Our story
It started with a roof that leaked and a ballroom that didn’t care
In 1998, Eleni Marchetti walked through a shuttered 1924 estate on the edge of Oak Brook. The paint was peeling and the glass roof was green with age — but the ballroom still held the light like it had something to prove. She bought it that spring.
The first year was one hall, a borrowed stove, and a wedding every Saturday. Nearly three decades on, Anira is four restored halls, a full culinary studio, and a team that measures success in one quiet way: guests who linger at the door because they don’t want the night to end.
We are still family-run. Eleni still greets most couples herself. And the ballroom still holds the light.
What we believe
Four ideas we won’t compromise on
Hospitality, first
A guest should feel looked-after before they can quite name why. That instinct is the whole of the job.
One team, end to end
The planner at your first tour is there on the night. No handoffs, no strangers in the room.
Food that earns the room
A beautiful hall is undone by a forgettable plate. Ours is cooked from scratch, in our own kitchen.
Details you can feel
Lighting, sound, and timing handled so well they disappear — and the evening simply flows.
The estate, in time
A hundred years of gatherings
Anira didn’t start in 1998 — it just reopened then. The estate has been a place people gather since the Jazz Age, and we try to be worthy of that.
- 1924A storied estate
The Linden Grove estate is built as a private residence — its ballroom and glass atrium the talk of the county.
- 1998Anira opens
Eleni Marchetti buys and restores the shuttered estate, opening Anira with a single hall and a great deal of nerve.
- 2007The Aurelia Ballroom
A new grand ballroom nearly doubles the estate and hosts its first five-hundred-guest wedding.
- 2015Everything in-house
A full culinary studio opens on site, bringing every menu under one roof and one chef.
- 2021The glass roof, restored
The atrium’s original 1920s glazing is painstakingly rebuilt and the walled rose garden replanted.
- 2026Two thousand nights
Anira marks more than two thousand celebrations across four seasons and four generations of families.
The people
The team you’ll actually work with
No call centre, no rotating cast. The four people who plan your night are the four people who run it.
Eleni Marchetti
Restored the Linden Grove estate in 1998 and has shaped the feel of every room since — and still greets most couples herself.
Daniel Okonkwo
Leads a from-scratch kitchen built on seasonal menus and a handful of signature plates guests still write to us about.
Priya Anand
Turns a first conversation into a run-of-show so thorough you can finally stop worrying and enjoy your own night.
Marcus Feld
Keeps lighting, sound, and staging invisible until the moment they matter — then makes them unforgettable.
An evening worth the drive
Come see it for yourself
The estate makes more sense in person. Book an unhurried tour and we’ll put the kettle on.
